Planning a wedding can be very exciting – and also a little overwhelming. During this busy time be sure to support your bride and guide her towards the wedding of her dreams. Remind her that this is an opportunity to work together and create a once-in-a-lifetime event that you will both cherish forever. Sometimes – all you need to do is be there for your bride. After all, you are her Prince Charming.

The rings that you select will symbolize the eternal love that you have for each other. Their circular shape will serve as a reminder to each of you that – together, you are complete. Be sure to take time to select rings that are a reflection of your sense of style and strength of commitment.

Consider setting aside time before or after the wedding to exchange personal gifts to one another. This may be a great opportunity for you two to take a moment to say how much you appreciate each other.

Your attire, and that of your groomsman, should compliment that of the bride and bridesmaids as well as the overall setting and surroundings of the wedding. When considering formal or casual attire, always use good judgment. Imagine fondly looking back on your wedding pictures in the distant future. How would you like to remember yourself on your wedding day? Dashing in a classic tuxedo? Sharp in a tailored suit? Casual in a colorful shirt? The most important thing is that you compliment your beautiful bride while feeling confident, comfortable and in command.

 

Once you have picked out a style, be sure that the proper measurements are taken and alterations are made accordingly. Also, always be sure that you and your groomsman try on everything several days prior to the event. This way, any additional alterations can be made or missing elements can be identified and replaced.

The Guys

The Toasts

Choose a family member to assist in coordinating the toasts and their timing. Be sure to that those expected to give toasts are comfortable and encourage them to be sure to give some thought to what they might say. Recommend that they take a moment to relax before their moment to speak. Also consider mentioning that inside jokes are not appropriate since many guests may not know or understand these references. The best speeches are short and from the heart.

Rehearsal Dinner

• If arranged by the Parents of the Groom, it is customary for the father and/or mother to speak and give a toast.
• Often less formal than the wedding reception, this may be an opportunity for other friends and family of the Bride and Groom to speak and give their best wishes to the couple.

• Generally, the best man is the first to toast the new Bride and Groom.
• Afterwards, it is common today for the Maid of Honor to toast the Bride and Groom.
• Often, the Bride and Groom respond to these toasts, thank their parents for their support and for hosting the wedding events and thank all the guests for sharing in their wonderful day.
• Finally, the Parents of the Bride usually speak to wish the couple well and thank everyone for attending.

Note: Be sure to plan the timing of the toasts carefully with the Wedding Planner. It is important that the toasts be well coordinated with the evening’s events.

The Honeymoon

Planning your honeymoon itinerary is very much like planning your wedding. You will need to share your dreams and work together towards making that a reality. Talk about places you have always dreamed of visiting. Talk about your ideal experience. Is it adventurous and exciting, relaxing or both? Here are a few key things to remember:

• Set a realistic budget for the Honeymoon. Overspending leads to overstressing.
• Keep it simple, your honeymoon should be relaxing and rejuvenating
• Do your research, understand your options, and have a good idea of the specific activities and excursions you would like to pursue
• Try to commit to your locations and solidify your dates 6-8 months prior to the wedding.
